August 21 PS to canoe tripI forgot the best part about today's trip - we didn't tip the canoe at all! Got stuck on the rocks a few times but otherwise uneventful, not that Steve didn't try to tip us. He kept rocking the boat and laughing like he wanted us to go over. I'm sure he thought I'd be the one to dunk us! Canoeing on the Clarion RiverThere is only one word to sum up today's trip-PERFECT! The weather was awesome, not a cloud in the sky, about 83 degrees with no humidity, nice and cool in the shade. The water was so clear and pretty with beautiful trees and rocks lining the banks. Afterwards we drove to a picnic area and grilled hot dogs, then had Dairy Queen on the way home. All in all just a nice relaxing day! The only thing bothering us right now is how much we miss Riley! Can't wait to see him on Saturday. See you soon.....Michele rest & relaxation part 2Sorry, can't figure out how to make my phone accept more than a couple blog lines. Anyway, we are going back today to canoe (yes, canoe) down the river. It is very slow and shallow, which is why I am consenting to go! I hope Steve is nice to me when I tip the canoe a few times....I'll talk to you later! so much for rest & relaxation....So things are alittle different than my original plan of laying by the pool all week and reading! Yesterday we visited Cook State Forest, and it was fantastic! The Clarion river runs thru it and it boasts some of the tallest, oldest trees in the country. We wanted to hike a little, so we picked a 2 mile "moderate" trail. HA! I didn't think we would ever get out of there, and there were SO MANY HILLS! But it was truly beautiful and I am so glad we did it. (CONTINUED NEXT ENTRY) August 20 on vacation in the PA wildsWell, we are here in PA FINALLY! It seemed we waited a long time for vacation this time, since it is so close to the end of summer. It is very pretty here, lots of beautiful scenery and wildlife. The deer roam around everywhere, they come right up to the condo. They're not very afraid of people at all. There are lakes and mountains and HUGE trees everywhere, so many trees that sometimes when you're outside you feel like you are indoors because they are so thick. It's really pretty awesome and very peaceful
